Our guide will be entirely at your disposal. You may wish to arrive with plans to achieve specific objectives or alternatively let us devise a walks programme to suit your holiday. How about a day brushing up your mountain navigation? We walk at your pace, when and where you wish, with total freedom and flexibility.
To ensure the exclusivity of our leader to your holiday no other walking bookings are accepted for the length of your stay. Walking bookings are therefore taken on a "first come, first served" basis.
5 days walking is available on 7 nights holidays and 2 days on short breaks (3 - 4 nights).
Experienced Walking Leader
All walks will be led by Roger Peak the owner of the Coach House. He lives locally in Ambleside and is a qualified Mountain Leader with extensive hill-walking, climbing and mountaineering experience in the Lake District, Scotland and the Alps. He also leads walks for the country's leading walking-holiday company and assesses expeditions for the Cumbria Panel of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. He holds a current First Aid certificate.
Standard of walks, fitness, enjoyment and weather
Some walkers prefer half-day walks at a gentle pace on the lower or less frequented hills, others full days on the high fells by the classic routes in challenging conditions. The choice is yours. We aim for quality mountain days achieving your ambitions with the confidence and safety that a qualified leader can offer.
Bad weather options are nearly always available but naturally you are free to choose not to walk at any time.
Transport
Some walks can start from our door but to explore the delights of other areas of the District a vehicle is necessary. Normally you wiii be expected to provide transport for yourselves and the guide to and from the start and finish of your walks. Our own transport may be available for up to four persons by arrangement but would incur a charge to cover running costs. (Most other walking areas are within 45min drive.)
